A free solution for collaborative working in schools.
If you’re looking for a cost-effective and intuitive set of educational tools for schools, try Google Workspace for Education.
This is a suite of tools and services designed especially for school use, which can be accessed online or comes ready-installed on Chromebooks. Google Workspace for Education supports lesson planning and classroom teaching, along with remote lessons, collaborative working and a school-specific email system.
Introducing Google Workspace for Education
The entry level package, Education Fundamentals is free for schools. (If you’re already using a Google education package, this one replaces the former G-Suite for Education bundle.) If you want more options, you can upgrade to a more premium service for a subscription fee.
The free package comes with Google Classroom and Google Meet, as well as emailing system Gmail, Google Docs, Google Forms and Google Chat. Admin is easily managed with this cloud-based package, which stores everything online in your Google Drive.
Here’s more about this versatile resource for schools.

Using Gmail in schools and colleges
Individual email addresses for all staff and students
It’s easy to create and manage email accounts, even for primary-age pupils, with a Gmail system. All levels of Google Workspace for Education come with Gmail, Google’s email system.
Nortech IT can work with you to set up email accounts for your students as well as the staff. Their school Gmail accounts let them send and receive emails within the school system, and they can use their accounts to log into programmes such as Google Classroom and Google Meet.
Chromebooks & Google Workspace
The Chromebook makes an excellent alternative to a conventional laptop.
At Nortech IT, we’ve provided Chromebooks to various schools and colleges in Ireland, and they’ve been really pleased with how well this system has worked for them.
A Chromebook is a laptop that uses Google’s operating system, and most of the work is carried out and stored online. Because there’s little storage on the device itself, Chromebooks don’t need large, powerful processors, which keeps their costs down.
Chromebooks arrive with Google Workspace for Education ready-installed, saving you even more set-up costs. With everyone working in shared accounts online, collaborative classroom and remote teaching are simplified for staff and students.
